Below are the diversities that are in this course with a brief explanation of how I have adapted my PBL instructional unit to accommodate these learners.
- Students with disabilities?
- Students that have an IEP will have all accommodations met. The majority of the students with an IEP require the use of a calculator, a graphic organizer and an audio version of all assessments. These tools will be available to the students throughout the entire lesson.
- Different learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic)?
- Within the PBL unit students will have the opportunity to learn using all types of learning styles. During the warm-ups the teachers will allow the students to respond to the multiple choice questions using thumbs up for a, thumbs down for b, and sideways thumbs for c. The students will also have visual lessons through video and PowerPoint
- Students without access to technology in the home?
- Students with out access to technology at home will be allowed to stay after school with the teachers to work on their portion of the project-other team members will be invited to attend as well.
- ESL students
- Any ESL student will have their accommodations met. All ESL students will have access to a bilingual dictionary-the teacher will work with the team members if there is a language barrier.
